I was lucky enough to be sent the Sigelei Kaos Spectrum Mod from the team over at Sigelei UK for the purpose of this review. I have using it constantly as my go to mod for the last 3 weeks, to put it through its paces, and to allow me to give you my feed back and thoughts on the Kaos.

The black powder outer shell designed by California based E-cig company ' Kaos', is machined out of high grade zinc alloy, whilst the inside features the new and updated version of the Segelei 213 Chip.
Considering that the mod houses dual 18650's it has a nice compact size, that fits well in the hand. The zinc alloy casing wraps seemlessly around the body.
The Kaos features a spring loaded 510 connection off-set on the top of the device.
On the opposite end on the top section, the edge slopes away, and they have added a 'Spectrum' name plate, which does seem a bit of an after thought, but is a great place to rest your thumb whilst Vaping.
The base of the device, intergrates the Classic Sigelei spring loaded battery door, which whilst empty feels to loose, but when it is closed over batteries it is held firmly in place.
I do like this style of battery door, easy access to swap out the batteries, and holds firmly in place with no issues during vigorous testing at home and work.
The back of the device, has a funky little leather-look panel, set in the same shape as the LED front panel, I'm not a massive fan of it, I think they would have been better to go with a carbon panel, the leather look, although adding grip, doesn't really fit with its clean modern lines, looks like a bit of an afterthought.
With the front of the device dominated by the unique light up LED ring.
Which sits around the 0.96" TFT colour screen. The opaque plastic ring, gives this Mod its distinctive look and function, allowing you to change the colour of the ring, to suit your style and mood.
The LED ring, can be set to either light up when fired or always be illuminated.
The 0.96" full colour screen displays all the Device information on one screen, I found it was easy to read indoors, with clear bright vibrant colours, but when out side, it's a different story and was impossible to read in bright sunlight.
The screen and surrounding area is covered and protected by a thin layer of smoked plastic, which unfortunately does seem to flex a and creak a bit, Which I think does cheapen the mod a bit, would have been better with either thicker plastic or glass.
Strangely they have located the two control buttons above screen, rather than below, which is a little frustrating, as you end up covering the screen with your fingers when operating.
I think, as with other mods, they would have better located under the screen, where the Kaus logo is
I absolutely love the fire button of the Spectrum, it fits perfectly under the finger, with the ability to click, from the full area of the button, great positive click, and must be one of the biggest buttons about.
Controls and Functions
- 5 rapid clicks on and five clicks off
- 3 clicks on fire button brings up menu showing Power & TCR and Colour Mode
- Select power and TCR lets you choose wattage – SS –Ti – Ni200 or go into your TCR mode.
- Inside TCR mode you can set 5 different memory slots.
- Choosing colour mode allows you to choose the LED light colour
- Once selected you have the options to use the light only when using – always on or lights off completely.
- Selecting lights off mode leaves just the tiniest light behind the strip when you’re firing.
- Minus and fire = button lock and unlock
- Plus and fire = preheat power and time settings
Daily Vaping and Performance.
I have been using the Sigelei Kaos Spectrum constantly for the last three weeks, and despite its pre-mentioned niggles, with the button lay out and viewing the screen out side , it performed faultlessly, and I absolutely loved it. I weirdly liked the changeable LED panel, and yes, I found myself changing the colour to match my Atty. (Simple things - please simple minds).
I really only use my mods in Wattage mod, so didn't really try out the Temp modes. But whilst Vaping in Wattage mode it has near instant power delivery, heating up even the fattest coil.
Size wise - the Spectrum fits perfectly in the hand,
I found myself resting my trigger finger on the Spectrum logo on the top, and firing it with my second finger.
Battery wise, I was a bit concerned that the disco light show on the front would drain the battery, quicker than normal, but my concerns were short lived the battery lasted though the day a well through the morning of the next, before being swapped out. And that was Vaping at 45w most of the time.
Positives
- Unique changeable LED ring to suit your style.
- 230w Vaping power
- Compact Size
- Dual 18650.
- Colour TFT screen
- TCR Mode
- Ultra comfy Fire button.
- Quick release battery panel
- Wide enough for larger tanks and atties
- Firmware upgradeable
Negatives
- Thin plastic over screen feels weak
- Leather-look rear panel
- Hard to view screen outdoor
Conclusion.
A great looking mod, with some unique design features, that will defiantly make you stand out from the crowd. Not perfect. But a pleasure to own and use. Well done Sigelei.
