The Wotofo Profile RDTA by Mrjustright1 - One Product Two Devices.
The team over Wotofo were kind enough the send over a couple of the new Profile RDTA’s free of charge for the purpose of these reviews.
I haven’t used an RDTA in absolutely ages, and only then was a cotton feed device, so was super excited to try out the new a Profile with its metal rod wicking system.
Introduction to the Profile RDTA.
Wotofo x Mrjustright1, THE PROFILE! Yes, we’re now introducing to you our new Profile member, the Profile RDTA! Being the RDTA version of the popular Profile RDA, the Profile RDTA is sure to live up to you flavor chasers’ expectations. It improves RDTA juice transfer from bottom to top by using 4 stainless steel wicks, and it can be used with single wire coil setup, dual wire coil setup and mesh coil of course. The most exciting news is that we are proud to announce our new breakthrough mesh strip here.
The Profile RDTA is the perfect device for someone who is looking for a versatile Atomiser, if you can heat it, and vape it, you can probably do it with the Profile. The Wotofo Profile RDTA Build & Design.
The Profile, comes full assembled in RDTA mode, and can be easily broken down, for maintenance and cleaning.
RDTA 510 Connection.
The base of the device, features a standard gold plated 510 connection, surrounded by Wotofo branding.
The base of the RDTA is made up of the tank section, 25ml in diameter, and holds a massive 6.2ml of juice, in a PCTG tank section, surrounded by a framed cage, not only to add to the overal look, but does a good job of protecting the tank from breakage. Which will be an issue as no spare tank included in the kit, so be carefull.
The 510 connection runs up through the center of the tank, and features a female 510 connection, to allow the RDA section to thread on.
Wicking Rods.
Most other RDTA tanks I have used in the past have relied on cotton poked down into the tank to wick up the juice. The profile on the other hand uses stainless steel rope for its automatic Eliquid transfer system.
Apparently very popular in Germany, this kind of stainless steel wick is in rope shape. It has super strong wicking capability to take e-juice from the bottom of the tank up along its length efficiently and gives automatic juice supply to the cotton. This e-liquid transfer method makes large tank capacity viable in reality and cuts the hassle of frequent refills.
The Profile Build Deck.
The very clever design of the multi section construction of the profile, effectively gives you a build deck, that turns into a standalone RDA.
The build deck itself has a 510 connection build into the base, with the choice of either the preinstalled squonk pin, or standard solid gold plated 510 pin.
Along with the 510 the base of the deck has 6 other holes, 2 holes either side of the 510: which the wick rods slide through, along with a two more holes on either side, the larger hole, for filling, and is the perfect size for 10ml juice bottles, and just about copes with 50ml bottle nozzles. You just won’t be able to use your dropper bottles, so will need to decant it.
The other hole is an air hole, and prevents airlocks and vacuums forming in the tank when filling.
The deck itself smoothly threads down onto the tank section, just make sure that the O-Rings running around the underside of the deck remains in place, as will prevent any leakage.
The Profile deck, isn’t just a mesh desk, that you can fit standard coils into, it has actually been designed, with both in mind.
So you have two Philip head screws located on either side, which when unscrewed will loosen the mesh clamps, unfortunately they are not spring loaded, and only seem to have a short amount of travel, so don’t unscrew them to much, or you will have to fiddle about getting them back in.
Either side of the mesh-clamp screws, are two more slightly smaller Philips head screws, which open up the post less coil holes located underneath the spring loaded ceramic cotton tray. So you can effectively install either a single or dual coil build, fairly effectortly. Depending on what you fancy at the time.
The Top Cap & Airflow Controll.
The top cap on the Profile is a complete work of art, and I’m not talking about the Profile branding on the side of the tank.
You have 19 small hole located on either side, which can be closed off, by rotating the upper section of the top cap.
The staggered edge of the airflow controlling top cap, allows you to eith close off the lower section of holes, one at a time, or you can close off a complete column at a time, by turning around to the taller section.
The two tabs located inside the chamber, are there to help prevent leakage by closing off the fill and airflow holes. Nice attention to detail.
You will also notice that the chamber wall has been machined so that it will lock into place, when installed over the deck section. To allow yo turn the airflow, with twisting the deck.
One you first open the box to airflow ring is very tight, so it is worth running some juice around it, to loosen it up.
They have also machined the inside of the top can, in a chamfered, which is believed to enhance flavour quite a lot.
RDTA or RDA Conversion.
As we stated at the beginning of the review, you have the option to run the a Profile in either RDTA mode, or stripped back to a simple RDA.
This is done by simply unscrewing the tank, and then screwing on the conversion bottom plate, which seals off all of the unrequited rod, and fill holes. Converting it into an RDA, which can then be used in either squonk mode, using the preinstalled Squonk pin, or switching it out for the solid pin. And using it as a standard drip per.
The Profile RDTA Builds.
The Profile RDTA offers the widest selection of builds that I have come across, and true builders delight. And the really nice thing is the kit comes with everything your going to need.
Mesh Builds.
Within the kit you get three types of mesh to build with.
NexMESH Clapton (Ni80+A1 0.20 Ohms)
Let us introduce the nexMESH Clapton mesh coil now, the Claptonized mesh or the mesh-style Clapton you could say. Creative meshing with quality wire, more contact surface for e-liquid, and mixed Clapton heating features, all of these just make the nexMESH Clapton a unique bad boy for huge vapor and amazing flavor.
Performance: Huge vapor and amazing flavor.
NexMESH Extreme (A1 0.16 Ohms)
nexMESH Extreme is the refined woven wire mesh derived from the original wire mesh. Its secret resides in the accurate usage of wires. Flavor production can vary drastically with tiny little difference in mesh patterns including the weaving, the crimping, the spacing and the wire. To further help understand what power nexMESH Extreme has, we’ll use an analogy: nexMESH Extreme is to mesh as complex Clapton is to single-strand coil. In essence, nexMESH Extreme offers larger coiling surface area, in a micro way, than normal mesh strips, thus increases vapor production and enhance flavor production.
Performance: Robust and strong, a vigorously warmer flavor experience, heavy vapor production.
NexMESH Turbo (A1 0.13 Ohms)
nexMESH Turbo is the high-density perforated mesh strip similar to nexMESH Chill. It offers a faster ramp up time and provides large contact surface to the e-liquid. The result? More vapor with more possibilities to taste more notes in e-liquids within lesser time.
Performance: Bold and clear, a more heightened flavor experience, thick vapor production.
To prepare for the install, after choosing which Mesh you wish to use, you need to shape the mesh, this is done by carefully rolling the mesh over the Wotofo bending rob, which gives the mesh the perfect curve.
Once the mesh has been curved, it will literally drop into the pre-loosened clamps. Which can the be carefully tighten up, to secure it in place.
Then it is worth dry heating the mesh, to ensure you burn off any oils, and get rid of any hot spots.
You can then wick her up, using the thicker 6mm Cotton laces, which is worth rolling through your fingers, to remove any kinks or excess cotton. Then it is just a matter of careful lint threading it through the coil arch, whilst pressing down on the ceramic cotton tray, which will ensure that the cotton, is constantly pressed up against the coil, to prevent flair ups, and dry hits.
Then it is just a matter of trimming and combing the cotton, and getting the balance right, with out compressing the cotton to much. And allowing the juice to wick up off the ropes.
Clapton coil Build.
The deck allows you to install either single or dual coils.
Simple trim the coil legs to about 5.5mm, back out the screws, and drop the coils in place. Then it’s just a matter of straightening the coils, making sure they don’t touch each other.
Then wick using the 3mm laces supplied, and trim off inline with the edge of the build deck. Comb out, and trim the top, before tucking the cotton down so it is just touching the top of the rope.
Single coil, works in the same way, apart from you have more room for coil placement, and easier to wick.
Vaping, Performance & Flavour.
I must admit I was a little sceptical when I first opened the box, and found the small metal ropes, and was unsure if they would be able to feed the juice hunger mesh coils.
Single Coil setup.
I started out vaping on the Profile, with just a single coil, and I super impressed. And instantly remembered how good the flavour is on RDTA’s. The single coil performed faultlessly, delivering just the right amount of liquid up through the ropes to feed the coils. The Clapton coils produced a great amount of flavour, with plenty of vapor, inline with a single coil. No dry hits. The perfect vape.
Dual Coil Setup.
As with the single coil the dual coil setup delivered super flavour, with a little more warmth, coming up off those coils. Wicked well, but did seem to suck through the juice twice as quick, which you would expect.
NextMesh Setup.
Is used the Clapton Mesh for this review, having tried the standard before. I vaped it between 50w and 70w, at 50w it vaped really well with buckets of flavour, with a steady flow of juice coming up. As I moved up to 70w, as the wattage increased, so did the flavour production, but I did find that the cotton began to dry a bit, I think I need to have a play with the wicking and cotton placement, and thin it out a little, as it is a large amount of cotton to feed.
Final Thoughts, Positives & Negitives.
I have been super impressed with this RDTA, and it has restored my faith in Mesh builds, and allowed me to fall in love with RDTA again.
I so impressed with how they have managed to design and create an RDTA that performs so well, with so many different types of builds, normally you end up with a dual coil deck, that allows you to stick a single coil it, but never really works, let alone perform so well with mesh coils. Such a great design.
I just hope that Wotofo build a Side-By-Side mod for it, that would allow you to soak up some of that towering height, which is my only niggle. I have looked at a suitable Side-By-Side Mod, but none of them will take a 25mm Atty. so fingers crossed that Wotofo will bring out a Profile Side-by-side Mod to match its style and size, and to make it more pocket friendly. A 21700 Mod eould be perfect.
Positives 👍
- Transforms between RDTA and RDA
- Handles all types of builds.
- Great adjustable airflow
- SS Rope Wicks well
- Large Juice Capacity
- Easy build deck.
Negatives 👎
- Too Tall
- Clamps not spring loaded.
