How Do You Charge the Raz Vue?

The popular Raz Vape brand has released several very successful devices over the last few years, but none of them are quite like the unique Raz Vue. The Vue is Raz’s first two-part disposable vape, which means that its e-liquid is stored in a removable pod. It’s not like other pod-based vapes, though, because the pod doesn’t just provide e-liquid storage. It has a small battery of its own, and that gives it the ability to work as a small vape even when it’s not attached to the main device.

The unique design, though, means that charging the Raz Vue is a bit different than charging a traditional one-piece vape. That’s because you need to charge two batteries rather than one. You use a USB power source to charge the main device, and you use the device to charge the pod. If that sounds overly complicated to you, there’s no need to worry. In this guide, we’ll explain everything you need to know.

What You Need to Charge the Raz Vue

To charge the Raz Vue, you need three things.

  • The Raz Vue kit, including the Vue device and a pod. If you bought the pod on its own, you’ll need to buy the full kit because the device is required for charging the pod.

  • A USB-C cable. The Raz Vue doesn’t include a charging cable, but you’re free to use any cable that fits the port.

  • A USB power source. A computer is always the most reliable power source for charging a vape, but you can also use a USB-C wall adapter rated for 5-volt, 1-amp power delivery.

When you shop for Raz Vue vapes, you’ll see both the full kit and replacement pods. If you bought a pod on its own accidentally and don’t have the main Vue device, you’ll need to buy a kit because you can’t charge the pod without the main device.

How to Charge the Raz Vue

Charging the Raz Vue requires just a few simple steps. Here’s how to do it.

  • Connect the device to a USB power source to charge it. The Raz Vue device has a battery capacity of 900 mAh and takes about an hour to charge.

  • Insert the pod into the device to charge it. When the pod is connected, the device charges it automatically. The pod has a battery capacity of 420 mAh and takes about a half hour to charge.

If your Raz Vue device and pod both have dead batteries, you can charge them simultaneously by charging the device while the pod is inserted. The device charges the pod while its own battery is being charged. Charging the Raz Vue device and pod simultaneously takes about an hour and a half.

When to Charge the Raz Vue

When do you need to charge the Raz Vue? Here’s how you can tell when one of the batteries is dead.

  • If the battery in the main device is dead, the smart display will show a battery percentage of “00.”

  • If the battery in the pod is dead, the light on the bottom blinks red. The pod also won’t produce vapor when you puff on it.

  • If the pod doesn’t work even though it’s connected to the main device, both batteries are dead. In this case, your best bet is probably to recharge the device while the pod is inserted, which charges both batteries simultaneously.

Raz Vue Isn’t Charging? Here’s What to Do

Charging the Raz Vue is a bit more complicated than charging other types of vapes since it’s a two-part device, and the same is true of troubleshooting any charging issues you may encounter. If your Raz Vue isn’t charging, the first thing that you need to do is figure out whether the device or the pod is the cause of the issue. Here’s how.

  • If the smart display doesn’t light up when you connect the device to your computer, the device isn’t charging.

  • If the LED on the bottom of the pod doesn’t light up when you connect the pod to the device, the pod isn’t charging. Since the pod’s battery is dead, you also won’t be able to vape in this case.

Once you’ve isolated the source of the problem, scroll to the appropriate section below to find the troubleshooting steps you should perform.

Raz Vue Device Isn’t Charging

Follow these steps if your Raz Vue device isn’t charging.

  • Try charging the device with a different cable. Since the Raz Vue doesn’t include a charging cable, you have to use your own. It’s possible that the cable you’re trying to use is old and damaged.

  • Try connecting the Raz Vue to a different USB power source. If you’re using your computer, try charging the device with a wall adapter. Don’t use a wall adapter for a PC or smartphone, though, because the Vue doesn’t support fast charging.

  • Make sure that the Raz Vue’s charging port is clean. The device can’t charge if the USB port is stuffed full of lint or dust. You can remove any debris with a toothpick.

Raz Vue Pod Isn’t Charging

Follow these steps if your Raz Vue pod isn’t charging.

  • Remove the pod and reinsert it. It’s possible that you’ve just encountered a temporary firmware glitch. In that case, reinstalling the pod may fix the problem.

  • Wiggle the pod gently. All of the pod’s metal contact points need to touch the points on the Raz Vue device. If even one of the contacts doesn’t touch, the pod won’t charge. Wiggling the pod may correct the misalignment.

  • Clean the contacts on the Raz Vue pod and device. The pod may not charge properly if the contacts are contaminated with dust, grime or leaked e-liquid. To clean the contacts, you can use a cotton swab moistened with a little rubbing alcohol.

If you use alcohol to clean your Raz Vue device and pod, wait several minutes before inserting the pod again to ensure that all of the contacts are completely dry.
