Then then fun part, choosing your design, and there are literally hundreds to choose from.

To make it easier they have split the designs into a number of categories, personally I found myself swiping through all of them.

The other way to choose, is just to start with the design style first, and see all the flat design,

Choose your design and then wrap it virtually onto your chosen mod. Either way around it’s super easy to find your perfect Zapwrapz .

Having spent literally hours, 🕝 combing through all their amazing designs, picking them, then changing my mind and picking some more,  this is where I wish they had a ❤️ button, to help you make your short list. And a social share button, to share your choose design with your mates, and let them help you choose.

So I choose the very cool looking ‘Black Honeycomb Camo’ for my silver Dovpo Topside Dual, as I always found the silver a bit to plain.

And for my Dovpo Topside Lite I choose ‘Mandalas & Koi’ as I just loved its tattoo type look, and well I have a passion for Koi.

The Zapwrapz Wrap kits

The kits arrived within a couple of days in a plan brown ‘Do Not Bend’ envelope. With the two wraps inside, each one in its own sealed down clear plastic sleeve.

Each sleeve had the precision cut  premium quality 3M vinyl wraps, firmly stuck to the shiny easy peel backing paper, along with a small alcohol wipe, and fitting instructions.

Which includes the following check lists

Check before application

  • Your hands are clean
  • Device and wrap are both at room temperature
  • The squonk bottle has been removed
  • You have a hairdryer ready
  • The room has good lighting
  • You have watched the application videos on the Zapwrapz channel.

General Application Guide

  • Earn your device with the included alcohol wipe thoroughly
  • Dry using a lint free or microfibres cloth.
  • Use any screen or button cut-outs as your guide.
  • Align the side with the edge of the device
  • Double check position before pressing down firmly.
  • Use your hairdryer to heat up the wrap and rub it all over.

So having watched the Zapwrapz videos a couple of times, and set up my wrapping station we set to work.  I thought I would start off with the Dovpo Topside Dual, as  it looked a easier one to start with, with less cut outs etc.

Dovpo Topside Dual Black Honeycomb Camo Zapwrapz

So following the instructions we gave it a  good clean with the Alcohol wipes,  I would have liked the wipe to have been a bit bigger, or been given a couple to use, as mine seemed to dry out quite quickly, which I think may have had something to do with the fact I was doing out side in the warm sun.

Once you have fully clean the mod, and dried it off with the micro cloth, then you begin to put you first section of your wrap on..  I went for the main center section, as you could line it up on the face plate, and get it right around the screen and buttons, hoping that if I got the front right the rest would fall into place.

The front section seemed to go on with ease, and just proves how well cut the wrap is. And as long as you don’t press it down until you are totally happy with you positioning.

As long as you have positioned the front section correctly, the sides sort of fall in to place, you just need to make sure that you work it tightly into each of the curves, as you need to make sure it reaches all the way round to the front.  I did have to peel mine off and replace, as I ended up with a gap at the front. But the second time it was fine.

You just need to try and gently stretch the wrap around the curves, so that the to edges meet in the middle, I ended up sort of pushing it with my thumbs, until the joined.

The top section seems to just fall in place, once the sides are in place, and it’s just a matter of making sure it is located around the 510 correctly.

Then you can carefully line up the base sticker, I used the small magnet hole, to make sure I had it centred correctly.

Then the final piece is the little circle that goes on the squonk cap. Which was quite tricky to line up, and after a couple of attempts I got it stop on,

Once everything is in place, you need to rub it firmly all over with the cloth, making sure you don’t have any air bubbles, and then you can use the hairdryer to heat up the wrap, which allows it to get into each little area, and allows any texture from below to come through, like the grip plate on the base. The heat seems to also get the glue to set.

I also had to reheat mine the next day as a couple of bubbles had appeared, only where the wrap had stretched across the lower curves on the side,  and it is just a matter of heating and pressing it firmly down to remove them.

I think you’ll agree that the finished result is quite stunning, and defiantly improves the look of the Topside a Dual.

I was amazed at how well it cover the mod, and looking at the finished article you wouldn’t of guessed that it used to be silver.

Dovpo Topside Lite  ‘Mandalas & Koi’ Wrap

My second wrap was for my Dovpo Lite, which is quite an unusual mod, due to the fact that the Squonk section of the mod is removable and can be swapped out, swapping it out for a standard single 18650 battery cover. Which I never really though that matched the rest of the mod, so it is great that the wrap covers both sections, making it look like one complete mod.  And was also Interested to see how the wrap stuck to the clear plastic squonk section.

As this the previous wrap, and with a little bit more confident, I cleaned up each part of the Topside  lite. Including the squonk bottle section, and battery cover section.

Then we lined up the main section, ensuring that the screen was centred.

Due to the flat sides this one seemed a little easier to fit, and once the front section was lined up they literally fell into in place, but you have to be carefull not to get carried away, and it is definitely a case of check one, check twice, before you press it down.  And check all around, before applying pressure as you might thing you have it perfectly lined up, but then you the other end, and it is over hanging,  plus due to the fact you are wrapping around corners, you need to ensure that once around the corner, it lines up. So just take your time,

As long as the main front section is lined up, the top section just drops into place, you just have to pull it into place,

The Topside lite does seem to have quite a few fiddle bits to line up, and was really impressed with the amount of coverage from the wrap, it literally covers all areas of the visible mod.

You can see from the photos how precisely he wraps are cut, pitting every section so well,  the only section that I though was missing was the raised circle around the fire button, which remained red, which looked a little strange. And I would have liked to have had a little cut out circle to stick on it.

Once the main body it completed you can move on to the Squonk section. Which has a transfer sticker over the large cut out for the squonk hole, to ensure that it does distort when applying .

And once the squonk whole is lined up you can then work it around the body section, working it into the recesses.

You really do need to press it quite hard with you finger tip, to get it into the groves, and press out any bubbles or creases.

As long as you have pressed in to the shape, then you know that it will line up perfectly on the edges.  Once it is all in place, you can rub it all down, and then look to remove the clear transfer sticker, that just peals off.

Then you can move onto the last section, the battery cover, with its lace up detailing.

Finally I added the small circle sticker to the top of the squonk bottle top.  I used the transfer sheet to make it easier to line it up.

And then rubbed it all down with the cloth to make sure it was all in place with no bubbles or creases.

Final thought on the Zapwrapz

I have really enjoyed wrapping my mods, and I can see how it could become a little addictive, and I could end up wrapping all my mods. Really impressed with the quality of the wraps, and how precisely they have been cut. You can tell how much passion the Zapwrapz team put into making the wraps and ensuring that you are 100% Satisfied with the finished article.
