Design and Build quality.
The Origin X Body.
The body of the Origin X is constructed out of a painted Zinc Alloy, with the exposed sures on the front and back edges of the device, aswell as the base. the metal chassis gives the device a solid feel to it, and has a nice weight in the hand.
The side panels of the device are made of plastic, which does give it a bit of a plastic feal, as the panels are quite thin, and out of choice i would have preferred metal, but at this price point you cant complain, and once you have been using it for a while, you dont even notice.
The front panel with the OXVA branding is fixed in place, and can not be removed. could have been cool to have interchangable panels.
The back panel can be removed to get into the battery tray, this panel is held in place with four very strong little magnets, that hold it securely with zero rattle or movement, To remove the panel, it is just a case of getting your finger nail in the opening slot, which it indicated on the rear of the device, with an open marking, just in case you cant find it.
Once the panel has been removed you can access the neatly laid out battery tray,
As you can see the battery tray is recessed into the bodycoloured chassis, and surrounded by the four square batteries. with clear battery terminal markers, would have been nice if they where printed in White, to make it easy to see. There is also a battery tab, to help you get your batter out when installed.
The top of the tray has gold plated spring loaded connector, nicely rounded off, so it doesnt chew up your battery ends when installing it.

With the amount of spare space under the side panel, i would have preferred to have had the Type C charging port hidden behind the panel on the side, hidden out of the way, rather than located on the base, which i never understand, as it is open to the element, and always get muck and fluff in it, plus the fact that you have to lay the mod down to charge it.

As with all 18650 devices i wouldn't recommend charging your device every day through the socket, as it doesn't do the battery any good. and would always recommend using an extrenal charger.
The front side of the device, has a strange lay out, which does take a little getting used too, at the top of the side, just below the pod grip, are two slots, which allow the airflow through to the pod, when it is set up in pod mod.
and then below the slots is the small raised fire button, personally i would have expected the fire button to be located a bit higher up the side of the device, and i did, to start with found my self searching for the button. The button has a light up LED ring around it, which lights up blue when the fire button is pressed.
The Center of side panel has a set back 0.69in OLED screen which displays all your basic vaping information, The device it;s self is powered by OXVA’s patented Photon Chipset that allows for a more stable and higher performance vaping experience, and will allow you to vape all the way upto 60w.
The Photon Chipset will also sense what wattage the device wattage can fire upto, based on the resistance of the coil installed, to prevent you from burning out the coil. Each time you install the pod, it will take the reading of the coil, and you need to press the function button to confirm, before you can start vaping on it.
Ass with most devices it works on a 5 x Press On/Off. whereas 3 x press with lock the device, and when i say lock i mean the whole device, including the fire button, personally i would have preferred it to have just locked the function button.
The smaller function button, is located under the screen, and is just a single button, which allows you to cycle up through the wattage, when it reaches the top wattage setting for the coil, it will stop and state MAX POWER. and then will round robin back to 0 again.
Origin X Pod.
The Origin comes with a pod included in the box, and pre-installed in the device. You will have to excuse the condensation around the drip tip on mine, as i was testing it,
The pod it held firmly in place on the top of the Origin X by strong magnets, which hold it firmly in place, and even allow you to pick it up by the pod top.
You can remove the Pod, by simply gripping it at the front and back and giving it a little tug, and drop it back in to re-install, as it drops back in place with a firm snap.
The UK Pods have a 2ml TPD compliant capacity, as well as a fixed clear drip tip that is moulded into the tank.
The coil is press fitted into the pod from underneath, and seems to fit tightly, and i have had no issues with leaking at all.
Filling
to fill the pod, you have to remove the pod, and pull the little rubber bung out underneath. Personally i dont like having to remove the pod, and would have preferred top fill. as with the RBA pod.
Coils.
The kit comes with two coils included. the OXVA 0.2 Ohm Mesh Unicoil that came preinsalled in my Origin, and does not feature any airflow control. and the OXVA 1.0Ω Mesh Unicoil, which featured a detachable Air-Flow-Control ring, that can be removed off the coil, by simply unscrewing it. The 1.0 ohm coild, with the AFC ring turned right down, gave a nice tight MTL vape, with a good level of control to open it up.
I found the pre-installed coil with no airflow control, to have the perfect level of air flow for a medium Direct Lung Hit. good vape.
OXVA Origin X RDTA Cartridge
As we introduced at the beginning the Origin X comes with a number of options, one of which is the Amazing Origin X RDTA Pod / Cartridge, which can be purchased separately, and i would definitely recommend it, as at only £15.99 (less the Black Friday Discount) it will open up a whole cost of vaping opportunities, with its rebuildable base section.
The kit includes all you are going to need to get building on this super simple build desk.

In my opinion the addition of the RDTA Pod, takes the OXVA Origin X from a great kit, to an amazing kit.
The RDTA base allows you to put what every coil set up you want on the Origin X, so that you don't have to keep buy coils etc.
The pod design and shape is exactly the same as the standard pod, apart from the coil has been replaced with a very thought out RDTA Base, and the fill port has been taken from underneath and placed correctly on the top.
The RDTA section feature a fully adjustable airflow section, allowing you to fine tune not only your build but as well as you airflow.
They have cleverly designed the top car to have teeth at the front and the back of the desk to allow the top cap/chamber to lock into place, to prevent the whole deck from turning when you adjust the airflow.
The airflow is funnelled through the adjustable airholes, and through into the center cap, and then directed down over the sides of the coils, giving the perfect amount of flavour and coil flow.
Once the top cap has been removed you get your first glance at the postless build deck. which really couldn't be simpler to build on.
The Origin X RDTA Build.
Firstly you need to loosen off the four grub screws, two on either side.
The coils that they provide have been pre-cut to the perfect lenght, which is a nice touch, so many RDTA and RDA leave you to guess how long they should be, but as i say these have been pre-cut to length, 6.5mm
Once the coils are the correct length, they will simply drop into place on the deck.
and then you can tighten up the screws, ensuring that they are not loose, or over tightened.
then it is just a matter of straightening the coils so they they are both straight, to make wicking easier.
Then you can dry burn them, pulsing the coils gently to get all the hot spots out of them, and ensuring that they are glowing from the Center out.
Then you can wick them up, carefully threading the lace cotton through each of the coils
Comb them out to ensure that cotton has a nice flow to it, and that there is not to much cotton, then i cut it off just over the edge of the deck.
Then carefully poke it down the wicking ports on each side. you dont have to has massive long tails reaching all the way down into the tank, as the action of vaping will soak the cotton, and keep them wicking.
Then its just a matter of juicing up the coils and the cotton and filling up the tank.
Pop on the top cap, set your airflow and you are way to go.
These coils came out at 0.16 ohms which i vaped at between 30 and 40 watts, depending on how warm i wanted the vape.
Performance and Everyday Vaping.
I have been so impressed with the OXVA ORIGIN X kit, in both pod mode and RDTA mode. the POD mode gave a great vape, with huge amounts of flavour, and no leakage, what more could you ask from a Pod Mod.
And with the RDTA on, wooow what a set up, i loved it, it is with out a doubt one of the best RDTA add-on for a AIO device, it is just so well thought out, nice small chamber, that gives you that great level of flavour, and no issues of leakage, even in the RDTA mode, just a brilliant design i love it.
The build deck is just so easy to build on and work on. and the fact that you can swap it back to a POD mod if you want to its great. love the magnets.
The chip performs really well, with very little ramp up, and great level of battery life, although i do hear a little buzzing noise just as you press the fire button. but nothing to worry about.
