When pod-based vaping devices first appeared on the market, they were an immediate hit with vapers of all experience levels because they presented a friendlier and more convenient way to vape. All that you needed to do was fill a pod, drop it into your device and vape. The drawback of the first pod-based devices, though, was the fact that the atomizer coil was a permanent part of the pod. In heavy use, an atomizer coil may last just a few days before it requires replacement. A pod, however, is just a plastic enclosure; it’s wasteful and expensive if you need to discard your entire pod just because it’s time for a new atomizer coil.
With the latest pod systems, you can enjoy the convenience of pod-based vaping without the waste and added expense. You’ll find some devices meeting the IP67 standard, for instance, which generally means that the device is impermeable to dust and can survive being submerged in up to a meter of water for up to 30 minutes.

The most important recent technological development in vaping for users of larger box mods is support for new battery cells that offer greater energy density than the old 18650 cell that most mod owners have used since the beginning. The new 20700 and 21700 cells are only slightly larger than 18650 batteries, but they offer much greater energy storage while also having excellent heat dissipation characteristics. If you buy a vape mod that uses a single 21700 battery, it’ll have a maximum power delivery of around 100 watts while lasting about as long between recharges as the dual-battery 18650 mod you’re probably using now. A dual-battery 21700 mod, meanwhile, might last multiple days between charges.
