Argus GT Design & Build Quality.
it is said that the R & D team at Voopoo took design ques from the super lightweight GT Track bikes, manufacturing the Argus GT Mod out of light zinc alloy with leather, carbon fibre and plastic highlights. This level of deign has given you a Mod, that they state is around 30% lighter, than similar devices on the market, as well as a super sexy looking mod. Which comes in a choice of striking designs and finishes.
The Black Carbon edition, which I was sent is definitely the best looking in the bunch, in my opinion.
Firstly I need to mention the packaging, the Argus GT arrived in a purpose made tough box, packaged in a cardboard sleeve. I really liked the box, and is definitely something that I will keep, and use to keep vape bits in.
The main body chassis seems to e made from some type of alloy, which then has a plastic feel, or possible powder coating on it, on closer inspection, you can see little glossy splash marks, which I did try and tub off to start with, but trust me it is part of the design. And sort of grows on you.
The grip section, as with most mods of this kind on the market, has leather padded section tightly wrapped around it. Mine is finished with carbon embossed leather, which gives the Argus a great look and feel. The branding has been kept to a minimum, and although present, is quite subtle, and in no way detracts from from the overall look. On the side, VOOPOO has been neatly embossed into the leather. And a lightly press ARGUS running down the spine of the device.
The Padding, is edged and held in place by a glossy plastic trim, with contrasting screws holding it in place.
The top section, features a standard 510 connection, which is the main difference between the ARGUS and the Voopoo DRAG pod system, giving you the ability, to install all you favourite tanks.
The front panel houses the square plastic fire button, screen and controlled buttons, as well as the side mounted Type-C charging and update socket, which has its own press fit plug cover.
The bright screen displays all the relevant device information that you need whilst vaping. I found it just about bright enough to read even outside.
Voopoo Argus GT Controls & Functions.
As with most devices on the market, it can be fully controlled and operated using a combination of the fire button and plus and minus buttons.
- To turn the device on and off hit the fire button quickly 5 times
- 3 presses of the fire button in quick succession, to choose your mode
- Smart
- RBA
- TC – Ni, Ti, SS with a long press of the fire button, adjust to select wire
- Fire button and – to clear puff count
- Fire button and + to lock and unlock the device
- Fire button + and – together to see chip id info
The device is firmware upgradable go to the VooPoo website for details. And has the following built in safety features and functions.
- Overtime
- Output
- Low battery
- Max power
- Over temperature
- Over charge
- Atomiser short
The Argus GT is powered by two external 18650 batteries which can be installed through the battery door underneath, which is held firmly shut, with a slide and lock mechanism.
The Argus GT kit includes the PnP Tank, which breaks down into three component parts, the tank, the 510 magnetic base. And measures in at diameter of 26mm,
The pod section, is the standard PnP clear plastic pod, that also comes in the Other VOOPOO Drag style pod kits, with the main difference being that the PnP tank includes a 510 metal base Adaptors, which allows the PnP Pod to snap into place.
The coil is simply press fitted into the pod.
The pod section comes in two sizes, the taller 5ml tank, and the crazy short 2ml TPD version, which I’m glad to sat are interchangeable.
Filling the device is simple, just unplug the tab, and fill away.
The 510 base is well designed, and also incorporates the adjustable airflow control.
You will also see inside the base, 3 spring loaded connection points rather like those in pod systems, seating the tank into the base the coil will push these contacts down to complete the circuit.
The kit comes with 2 coils
- PnP VM5 – 0.2Ω 40-60W
- PnP VM6 – 0.15Ω 60-80W
The PnP tank is compatible with the complete range of VooPoo PnP coils including the PnP RBA, as well as the very clever SMRT PnP Rebuildable by Wotofo.
Really quite impressed with the flavour from the PnP coils, and they seem to last well.
Conclusion.
I have been using the Argus GT for a couple of weeks, firstly using the included PnP tank, and then I paired it up with OXVA Arbiter Solol which has been my go to combo. I absolutely love the Mod, and has a great look and feel, and all day performance.
