Review of the OXVA XLIM Pod kit
The team at OXVA very kindly sent out their latest edition to amazing line up, having mastered the Pod Mod with the excellent Velocity, which is still my all time favourite. Along with the Arbiter Single and Dual RTA. They have branched out to conquer the mini pod market, with the All-New OXVA XLIM. For those vapors looking for a simpler vape, with out comprising on flavour.
About OXVA.
Many of you probably haven’t heard of Oxva as a company, As are still fairly new to the Vaping scene, they may be a newer company, put they bring them a wealth of experience and knowledge, Justin Lai who is their CEO, is mainly know for his previous design creations, designing the Geekvape Aegis range of mods, and the Zeus range of tanks.

XLIM Body.
The body of the XLIM has been manufactured out of high grade Aluminium Alloy, which has then been powder coated in a choice of attractive colours. As far as form factor, the XLIM is very similar to a lot of other pod devices on the market, being a similar weight a feel, to allow the XLIM to stand out from the crowd, the clever team at OXVA have loaded it up with features, to allow you to get the best vape possible, even on a simply pod system, giving you a high quality screen, adjustable wattage, battery indicator, adjustable airflow, draw activated, not to mention amazing flavour.
The finish on the body, has a silky smooth feel to it, personally I would prefer a more grippy feel, as it can be like holding butter.
The only part of the body I am disappointed with, is the base of the device, where it joins the base charging section, as it has quite a sharpe edge, could have been finished off a bit more.
The face of the XLIM houses the small but bright 0.42in TFT screen, that displays all the required info, and surprisingly ease to read. The screen sits neatly above the fire button, which has a really nice X shaped LED, which lights up when pressed, and whilst the auto draw function is activated.
Choice of Cartridges .
As stated the XLIM kit comes with two types of cartridges, both sealed units, with preinstalled Mesh Coils.
Would have been nice to have a DIY Rebuildable pod, but I suppose it is aimed squarely at the newer vapor. May be it will come later.
The pod is held securely in place by a strong magnet sat in between the two contacts.
Each coil claims to deliver you a slightly difference flavour experience.
0.8Ω Mesh Coil
120% Sweetness
100% Fragance
Strong Throat Hit
1.2Ω Mesh Coil
100% Sweetness
120% Fragance
Strong Throat Hit
0.8Ω KA1 mesh coil(12-16W)
- This coil is for those who require a little more power, and like a slightly warmer vape. I ran this pod at around 14 watts, and adjusted the airflow to suit, I must admit, I liked it the airflow fully closed off, to deliver a true MTL vape.
- this pod performed faultlessly, with excellent flavour, and nice dense vape. Bring out the sweet high notes in the Cotton & Cable Fruits - Asian Pear, Lychee & Raspberry
1.2Ω KA1 mesh coil(10-12W)
- catering more for those lower wattage style vapers, who prefer a cooler vape,
- this pod also performs excellently with great flavour, it’s just a little cooler than the other, with a slightly smooth vape, with less punch from the fruity high notes.
Airflow.
The XLIM has one of the best airflow I have come across on a simple pod system, with the perfect amount of resistance on the slider, it allows you to fine tune your vaping experience. Definitely designed for the MTL , with the slider fully open it delivers a nice loose MTL vape, whilst closed off fully, it gives you, what I would call a true Tight MTL. With out feeling blocked. Great combo.
Filling.
Nice to see they have gone for a top fill design, and once you get used to removing the month piece, it nice clean and simple, without the need to pull the pod out.
On the side of the black mouth piece, there is a small nail sized cut out, which allows you to hook your nail underneath, and pop it open, the pod remains held firmly in place by the magnets at the base. With this design, not sure if it will become loose over time, but I have had no issues.
Once the mouthpiece has been removed you will see two small holes, either side of the chimney. The slightly smaller hole is for the air to come out when filling. And the larger hole, is the perfect diameter to fill with a needle point nozzle, and slides right in, preventing a juice spills. And as long as you squeeze slowly, and allow the air to escape, you can fill it right up.
Battery & Charging
Considering the small size of the XLIM, they have managed to fit a 900mAh battery, which is quite impressive, for a device of this size, compared with other devices, such as the newly released Geekvape Wenax K1 Pod Kit which is powered by inbuilt 600mAh.
The XLIM also features the newer Type C charging port which can be found on the bottom of the XLIM, You’ll be able to charge this device pretty quickly due to it having 1Amp charging.
Although I have not let it go completely flat, I would think it would take about an hour to charge completely.
I did find that due the the general low wattage of the device, you can expect to get nearly a whole day of normal Vaping out of it.
The same goes for the juice consumption, due to the relatively low wattage, and small coils, the tiny 2ml tank seems to last for ages, especially when you compare it with some of my more hungry set ups. Meaning your 60ml Shortfill lasts for ages. Considering that you don’t seem to sacrifice flavour, or satisfaction.
Functions and controls
The XLIM feature a degree of Smart Wattage controll, with the Wattage output being limited depending on which pod you are using, the 0.8ohm Pod will allow you to vape up to a wattage of 18 Watts, whereas the 1.2ohm Pod a limit of 13 Watts, to ensure you don’t overcook your coils. Again a great feature in a pod system of this size.
The XLIM is super easy to control.
- 5x clicks on/off (also resets puff counter)
- 3x clicks to adjust wattage mode, just wait for it to start flashing, then adjust wattage upward by pressing the same button in 0.5ohm increments
- to set the wattage just leave it for a few seconds and it will lock in.
- When the battery 🔋 requires charging, firstly the battery indicator on the screen will show empty, but also the X on the fire button, with start to flash red. To show the battery is flat.
Positives 👍
