VapX Violet YK1 Pod Kit Review
The team over at VapX very kindly sent over their latest edition to their cutting edge vape collection.
VapX are at the forefront of vape design, looking to bring the latest and most cutting edge designs to market. The violet YK1 has been designed to keep you ejuice as fresh as possible, whilst allowing it to be unaffected by high pressure airline transport, A thereby creating the ultimate vape pod system for travelers and vapors alike. Boasts Push-Fit technology, and 100% sealed pods, that have a very clever leak proof design, even when subjected to high pressure caused by air travel. All clever stuff, these guys are coming up with solutions, for issues I hadn’t even considered.
I’m unsure, if they sent me the retail set, as in this gift package they included both the YK1 classic as well as the YK1 Luxury, along with a nice selection of their ice flavours.

Build Quality.
I have reviewed a lot of these style of pod systems over the last few years, and was interested to see the VapX take on the design. The kit I was sent, I believe was a reviewers kit, as it included both the classic and the luxury, which was cool, but from what I understand, they will be selling the both separately.
The classic is made out of a plastic outer coater casing, with a line and curve design impressed into the sides, whereas the luxury, has a smooth aluminium shell, with a slightly narrower profile. Apart from the slight size difference, and increased battery capacity on the luxury, by 30mAh, there is very little difference in performance, and is really down to personal preference. Strangely the luxury edition also has the ability to vibrate, with neptic feedback, vibrating when you insert the pod. And every now and again whilst Vaping, although I couldn’t work out what causes the feedback.
Pod System.
Both of the editions feature the same design of pod system, which cleverly have the coil and pod separate, until needed. Supplying you with one BVC (Bottom Vertical Coil) per three pods. Reducing waste, when you wish to use the pod, you simple insert the coil T peace into the base of the pod, as it gets pushed in, it breaks the seal, and pushes up the plug, allowing the ejuice to saturate the cotton and the coil. This set up is suppose to keep the ejuice fresh, and resistant to air pressure whilst in transit, apparently. Very clever design. You just need to make sure the pod is completely empty when you remove the coil, as ejuice comes poring out. Then you can just throw away the empty pod.
The kit also comes with refillable pods, that have the coil preinstalled, which can be refilled with your favourite juice, or Nic salt, each coil is meant to good for about 5 refills, but to be honest I managed to get about 8 to 10 refills before the flavour went funcky.
Flavour.
Was super impressed with the flavour production on the coils, although the flavour pods they included where as Iced fruits, so couldn’t tell how they would handle stronger dessert or tobacco profiles.
The Iced flavours do have quite a cooling kick, to the point that, if you of the vapor drifted up to your eyes, you would know it. But all in all I found the flavours to be good, if not a little to chilled.
Leaking
These pod systems, as stated are 100% leakproof, and had no worries about slipping on in my work trousers, without worrying about juice stains around the pockets.
Battery life & Charging.
I found that the battery would last for most of the day, with lite to medium use, and would just about be flat by the time I got home from work, as would the pod. Which I mainly down to the low wattage and tiny coils. It’s amazing how little juice a device like this actually uses, compared to the bigger juice hungry set ups, whilst still satisfying your need to vape. So perfect for work, travelling and general life.
Final thoughts ðŸ’
I was really quite impressed with these little kits, they performed faultlessly, great flavour, and have an amazing self life, due to the clever pod design. Although not my normal first choice for a vapem I found them perfect for work, when you don’t want to be carrying a larger vape around. Personally I keep one in the car, and one in my bag, along with a blister pack of pods.
