The team over at OXVA very kindly sent over one of the latest editions to the growing OXVA line up, going head to head with the likes of Geekvape, OXVA have launched their tough MOD.
Justin Lai & Colin Wang have designed The UNIBOX from the ground up to be nearly indestructible, it is shockproof, IP68 waterproof, powered by an extremely intelligent chip which is highly customizable and has tons of wonderful new features such as rating your battery!

RATE YOUR BATTERY
The new software also allows you to rate you battery that you have installed, with its unique Battery Performance Test Function. which gives you battery a score based on how the battery performs during the test ranging between 500 (Poor) to 10,000 (Excelent).

Battery Performance Test Feature
The OXVA UNIBOX is the first mod that i know of that allows you to test you battery, to allow you to keep an eye on the health of the battery you are using, to help you maintain the mods performance. and the test couldn't be easier, just follow these simle steps.
- Load a full-charged 18650 battery in Unibox mod. and secure the battery cap as normal.
- Load an atomizer with ejuice before you try and rate the battery.
- Select the Battery Test Mode. through running through the menu system. and begin the test.
Noted:The device will quickly ignite twice and give the score when start. Batteries
with a score below 2000 will be notified that they cannot be used. The rate is based on the battery’s current, internal resistance and performance of
the cell.
Design and Build Quality
The new UNIBOX is defiantly one of the stand out mods so far in 2022, not only due to uts striking good looks, but because, as with many OXVA products, they are trying to break ground, on new and improved features, and user experiences, rather than just producing the same as every other Vape Company, love to see companies pushing forward with innovation. which OXVA is getting know for.
The kit comes in a number very striking colours, with two solids, Black and Gunmetal, along with 3 very pritty two-tone colours, blending from one colour up to the next. Blue-Gold, Purple-Gold and Blue-Silver. all come with sort of matching coloured Unione PnM tanks
Unibox Mod Colours
The mod body has a super smooth premium satin finish to it, and you can tell they have taken the time and effort to get the paint blend just right. looks amazing in the hand, and you can do some sick matchy matchy combinations, with different coloured atomisers, the Gold-Blue one i was sent looked cool with a Gold RTA fitted.
The actual shape of the body really adds to the premium feel, with almost artistic lines to it. making it look like it had been sculpted, a real thing of beauty. The photos dont really do it justice.
To finish of the design, and to make it a bit less cold in the hand, they have added a leather padded section on the back of the device. which does give it a nice tactil feel in the hand, as well as improving the grip.
The base of the device features the screw in style battery door, and due to the oval shape, they have managed to also fit, very neatly the charging/update USB-C ports, which I'm pleased to say has a nice rubber plug in. and the fact that they havent set the port back to far, so you can use must standard USB-C Cables. and not just the one that comes in the box.
I must admit im not a massive fan of these types of screw in caps, but i suppose it goes hand in hand with the IP68 rating, and is the best way of keeping the battery compartment sealed off from the outside eliments.
To open the cap you can, either use the provided coin, to place into the slot to twist to open, or use a screwdriver. or you have the option of, with finger nails, lift up the curved lever, and twist it open. once open the battery will just slide out.
The actual battery is my biggest complaint with this mod, i wish, I wish they had designed it around the 21700, as they did with the OXVA Velocity, which is one of my all time favourite devises, and then given you an adaptor to allow you to run both. I just feel that the 21700 is just the right battery for todays mods, running the wattages we do, and gives you an all day vape, on one battery, So fingers crossed OXVA will bring out the UNIBOX Plus, which will accommodate the larger battery. Please OXVA....do it.
Display and Controls,
The premium feel continues around to the front of the device, with a nicely set 10mm Fire button at the top and two 6mm control buttons towards to base both of which have a nice circle design machined into the face of the button, both sets sitting either side a brightly lite screen.
The 0.96″ screen is positioned slightly above centre on the front of the mod. It measures at 11x 21mm and its nice and bright making it easy to see.
At the top of the screen is “UNIBOX” and to its right is the four sectioned battery bar. I’d prefer a percentage aswell instead on the UNIBOX wording, but at least the sections make iteasier to see the rough percentage of the battery level.
Just below that, running across the width of the screen is the power mode, with the power/temp setting below that. Just to the side of the power setting is the padlock icon to signify if the mod is locked or unlocked.
The bottom half of the screen, there are two sections, one is the coil resistance, then the other is the output voltage.
Side by Side at the bottom of the screen, laid out like speedo dials, is the puff timer and puff counter.
UNIBOX Operation and controls.
You have multiple user modes to choose from –
- Variable Wattage (Power) ,
- Variable Voltage,
- VPC (Variable Power Curve),
- Temperature Control and Bypass.
- Turn on/off = Press fire button 5 times within 2 seconds
- Lock/Unlock +/- buttons = press and hold + and – at the same time.
- Adjust power = press +/- to turn power up/down
- Mode Setting = Press fire 3 times within 2 seconds, use +/- to change the mode, then press and hold fire or leave idle for 5 seconds to save the option
- Lock/Unlock Resistance (ohms) = press fire 3 times, when the mode setting is activated, press fire 1 time to highlight resistance. Press ‘-‘ to lock/unlock. When locked the V will change into a padlock icon
- Set W in TC mode = press fire 3 times, when the mode setting is activated, press fire 1 time to highlight W, then use +/- to set the wattage.
- Set VPC = set the mode to VPC, then fire once to move down to p1, use +/- to set the wattage, press fire once to move to p2 and repeat.
- Battery Rating Feature = Install fully charged battery and make sure a (any) tank is installed. Then in the mode settings select “Rate Battery”, press fire and wait.
- Set theme colour = press fire and “-” simultaneously, use +/- to change the option and press fire to select and save
- Screen Brightness = Press fire and + at the same time, press +/- to adjust, then fire to save.
- Factory Reset = Turn device off, long press + and – simultaneously for 2 seconds. When the version number is displayed, press fire, + and – simultaneously, then press +/- to select yes or no.
The UNIBOX 510 Connection
Its is nice to get back to a mod with a normal 510 connection, as most of the market seems to be using Magnets, slides, clicks to connect the atomiser. So glad to see they that OXVA went for a standard 510 connection.
Due to its elongated shape the 510 connection sites off to one side, above the battery, which gives it a nice balance in your hand, when tanked up. And whilst on the subject of tanks the UNIBOX will hold upto a 28mm atomiser of your choice. although the kit includes the 23.5mm Unione tank.
The top of the device features a 11mm 510 connection plate, with standard 510 threading. this connection plate is raise up by about 0.5mm to prevent larger tanks from scratching up the fancy paint job.
The Unione Tank.
The Unione tank, seems to be one of the new generation, that dont quite know if they are a pod or a tank a sort of PO-TANK! I am a little unsure, what makes a tank a tank, and a pod a pod. I would say its more tank than pod, as it features a 510 connection on the base, and it just so happens that the tank section is held in by magnets.
The base section of the UNIone houses half of the airflow system, made up of two 13 x 3mm slots either side, sitting in middle of the 20.5mm wall rising up from the base section.
Inside the base section, set in the shiny silver base is one positive center pin and two negitive pins, all of which are sprung loaded, to ensure a great connection when you drop in the tank.
As the tank/pod section is only held in with 6 small magnets, it means, that through the clever design, you can actually rotate the tank section completely to adjust your airflow. and then silmply pull the tank out, to gain access to the coil, or to fill the tank, through the neatly placed fill port.
The tank section itself is made out of a domed glass, that runs up to the 810 mouth peace, The glass comes in 3 sizes, Standard- 4ml, Bubble- 5ml, TPD- 2ml, and can be swapped out by removing the drip tip, and using the provided coin again, to loosen off the top section of the tank, allowing the galss section to come away, and be swapped out.
Every day use and performance
I have been testing this device out using Joe's Juice Cream Kong Soft Mint, which i think was a 70/30 blend with Nic shot added.
0.15ohm Uniplus Coil
When i installed the coil is was actually reading at 0.16ohm, and it was recommended to be vaped at 70 - 80 w. At the lower band of wattage these coils produced a great amount of warm flavour, and suited the aitflow about 50% open. really nice vape.
0.3ohm Uniplus Coil
This coil read at 0.29ohms, when installed and juiced up, and is recommended to be run at between 35w to 40w, I found the sweet spot to be at about 37W, I didnt find the flavour to be as intense as the 0.15ohm coils, but still a nice amount of thick dense vapour, just a little under whelming compared to the other one. many be it would be more suited to a more intense fuity flavour.
Durability
I love the fact that this device is IP68 rated for Dust and Water, which makes it the perfect mod, for busy outdoor lives, Personally i not one for trying to destroy my devices, or test them to destruction, but it nice to know that should anything happen, its going to survive.
The main time my devices get put to the test is when i am on holiday, at the beach, as we all know sand gets everywhere as can easierly destory your standard vape mod, and the amount of times i have ended up getting wet on holiday, in the sea or river, and only to find a very wet mod in my pocket. Its like your mobile phone, i dont want to use it under water, but i want to know that if i drop it in the pool, its going to be ok.
