Review of the Wotofo Recurve V2 RDA.
I have been working with Wotofo for many many years, and have reviewed lots of their products, and have always had a keen interest in their innovative, forward think designs. Wotofo where one of the first vape manufacturers, who decided to work with Vaping Reviewers, to help design their new and upcoming products. Mike Vapes has been working with the Wotofo design team for quite a while now, developing a whole range of Recurve branded products, with the Recurve Mod, the original Recurve RDA Single Coil and Recurve Dual RDA. The latest collaboration between Mike and Wotofo is the Recurve V2, which cleverly seems to bring together both aspects of the original Recurve, and the Recurve Dual. The question is, can one RDA be all things to all Men (or Women) or should the single coil, and dual coil RDAs be kept apart

Build quality and Design.
If you are expecting just a minor facelift on the original Recurve, then you would be mistaken, as the Mike and the team at Wotofo, have redesigned it from the 510 up, personally I would have given it a new name, as a standalone brand. Unlike the original this RDA has a totally postless build deck, which in itself is nothing new, but as you have seen above the kit also includes two ceramic airflow adaptors, which is totally new and I haven’t come across before. Each Adaptor has been specially designed to suit either a single coil or dual coil build, depending on your preference.
The RDA comes fully complete, and will break down easily into its component parts. (A little to easily, but we will get onto that later).
Recurve V2 Airflow Cap
The main top section of the device, is the Airflow Cap, machined out of Stainless steel, with an 810 h sized hole machined into the top, with an internal black oring, which firmly holds the supplied 810 wide bore drip tip firmly in place. The top section down from the drip tip is nicely shaffered down, which adds to the overall curve design profile.
The sides of the airflow cap are stepped, to allow for fine tuning of the the three elongated airflow slot, which are cut into the chamber wall.
The Recurve V2 Barrel.
As with the Airflow control top cap, the Recurve barrel has been machined well out of stainless steel, with the pre mentioned airflow slots in each side. As the name would suggest, and following on from its predecessor, the wall of the chamber piece, has a slight inward curve to it, with the deeply engraved ‘Recurve’ branding around the base.
Sitting just below the airflow slots on the inside of the barrel, are two small notches, which are designed to fit, and lock into place with the build deck, to allow you to adjust the airflow with out rotating the whole chamber.
The Recurve V2 Build deck.
The base of the Recurve v2, as with most Atomisers on the market today is overly cluttered with legal information, as well as the brand name and Mike Vapes logo.
All sitting around a standard 510 connection, which has the option of running either a standard pin, or hollow squonk pink
If you look closely you can see the two cut out recess points on either side, which lock into the pre-mentioned tabs machined into the chamber walls.
The base of the Recurve, features two Philips head screws on either side, which run through into the post holes. The base section is top and tailed with two undersized o-rings, which seem to be the main culprit, which leads to my biggest bug bear with this RDA, which is the fact that the top cap, and chamber will not stay in place, and lift off with the least amount of effort and force, such a shame.
The actual deck, features the four post holes, separated by a thin line of peak insulation. Along with top deep juice well on each side, which are feed directly by the BF pin. The top section of the deck seems to have a concave shape to it, with a depression in the center, which I did find a little strange, as the juice seemed to pool in the center, rather than run into the juice well. The design of this deck, to me, makes it more suitable for squonking, rather than dripping.
The layout of the post holes, and the design of airflow domes means that the Recurve V2 can take Single coils up to 5mm and dual coils up to 3mm. You could possibly squeeze a couple of extra mm on if you tried.
As you could see in the ‘What’s in the box’ section, the Recurve V2 comes with 2 different internal airflow domes, which sit directly over the coils, locked in place by the two peg holes, on each side.
The Dual Coil Adaptor is designed with a larger internal space, and a larger hole above the coils.
Whereas the Single Coil Adaptor has a reduced chamber, which sits snuggly around the coil, and has a smaller hole, more suited to single coil.
The Airflow Adaptors have been designed to maximise the flavour production from both single coil, and dual coil set ups, which is rare to find a single RDA that others such flavour perfection running both single and dual, coils. Very well thought out and cleverly design rig.
I did find that when using the single coil Adaptor, the Recurve was more suited to Squonking, over Dripping, as I found that when dripping with the cap in place, some of the juice went down the outside of the Airflow dome, rather than directly onto the coils.
Wotofo Recurve V2 RDA Builds
The kit comes with everything your going to need to do both single and dual coil builds
Coils
1 x 5mm ID Dual Core Fused Clapton 0.65ohm to run at between 65-75watts
2 x 3mm ID Framed Staple Claptons each runs at 0.33ohms at between 70 - 76w
Cotton
3mm thick cotton shoelace
5mm thick cotton shoelace
Tools
Coiling rod, and Alan Key
The builds on both, couldn’t be simpler, firstly take your coils, and cut the legs down to 7.5mm. Which allowed the coils to sit neatly on the deck, with a slight lift. Using the supplied coiling rod, you can set the coils, without bending them out of shape.
Once you have removed the hot spots, you can the wick it up, with the appropriate size shoe lace cotton.
The juice it up! then install the Airflow Adaptor to suit the build, lining up the peg wholes on each side. And pop on the top cap, and set your airflow to the desired setting.
Putting the Recurve V2 to the test.
I have sort of fallen out of love with squonking, but I’m pleased to say that the Recurve v2 has reignited my passion for squonking, when I started using this RDA. The easy of build, precise airflow, and bang on flavour production. In both single and dual coil builds. I think if I had to choose, it would be the dual coil set up, for some reason, the double coil fitment and reduced chamber produced by the clever internal airflow dome. Just seems to give you on point flavour and vapour production.
Final thoughts on the Recurve V2.
Absolutely love the design of this RDA, and can see the amount of thought that went into its multiple layers of design. The only thing that lets it down is a pair of mis sized 1 pence o-rings. Which is a real shame, as I just can’t get over the over loose top cap. It just comes off with the lightest of tugs. Not that I pick up my mods by the RDA, but some times you do, or when you pull it out if your pocket. They either needed to increase the size of the orings, or do some kind of twist and lock on, with the lugs in the chamber. It is just about useable if you try and keep the orings absolutely bone dry. With just a quick wipe around before you fit the cap.
It’s funny because it’s normally the complete opposite with Wotofo RDA’s such as the Serpent, and they normally feel like they are glued in place. Hopefully Mike and Wotofo will come out with a V3 of the Recurve..
